Your Most Asked Questions
Share
Some of the most common questions we get at pop-up event, through a DM, or over email is simple and practical: How much are your prints? Do they come framed? Can I buy them in difference sizes?
We love theses questions. Not just because it signals interest, but because it opens up a conversation about what we’re trying to build.
So let’s take a moment to answer it properly. Not just with a number, but with the story behind it.
How much does it cost?
Each of our 18” x 24” prints is $100 CAD.
This includes free global shipping.
There are no hidden fees at checkout. No extra charge for delivery. If you’re outside of Canada, your payment is simply converted by your credit card provider at that day’s rate.
But more importantly, the price reflects everything that goes into the experience.
What You’re Actually Paying For
Pleasant Shimo isn't just about putting pretty pictures of Stanley Park or Shibuya on walls. Every piece is made in collaboration with artists who know the neighbourhoods they illustrate.
We’re building a platform that gives artists the chance to share their perspective on the places they know best. It’s storytelling through visual language.
As a CBC breaking news producer, my role was to find compelling voices that could provide nuanced insight into important and timely issues. Pleasant Shimo follows the same path: providing artists a platform to depict their communities with clarity and purpose.
Each sale directly supports them. Not just with compensation, but with long-term visibility and creative partnership.
Every Print Is the Result of Dozens of Decisions
Before we launched, we tested over 10 different printers—some in Canada, some overseas. Each one printed the exact same design. We put them side by side. Friends and colleagues voted.
The final choice wasn’t the cheapest. It was the one that felt right: deep blacks, vibrant colours, sharp detail, and paper that had real texture and weight.
We use enhanced matte paper sourced from Japan. The prints are made locally, in Montreal, with archival inks and close attention to quality at every step. Even the shipping experience is designed to be clean, protective, and reliable.
Why No Frame?
We keep our prints unframed so customers can choose what fits their home. Tastes vary from minimalist wood to ornate metal, and framing preferences often change from one space to another.
Large framed pieces are far more likely to break in transit, especially when glass is involved. Our prints are rolled and shipped in sturdy triangular boxes that are stronger than standard tubes and use less material.
Why 18"x 24" prints?
As we grow, you’ll see smaller formats and more cities added. But we’ll always prioritize care, intention, and the belief that good art connects people across neighbourhoods, countries, and stories.
We've tested out some smaller sizes at the Dragon Boat Festival and Vancouver Home Show.
This isn’t just about selling prints. It’s about giving something meaningful to those who love where they’ve been, where they are, and where they’re going.
