Commercial Drive, Vancouver
$100
18" x 24"
The Drive isn't just where cultures meet, it's where they fuse and take root. Family-run cafés serve espresso the way they always have, murals tell stories the city can’t erase, and grocers stock their shelves with the flavors of a dozen different homelands. With three train lines and countless buses strolling down Broadway, it’s both a hub and a haven. But for people who pass through, The Drive never feels like just another stop.

Tatiana Peterson
Tatiana grew up surrounded by builders of all kinds—painters, writers, architects, and engineers. By seven, she’d already chosen her university and, remarkably, stuck to the plan. Now she spends her days illustrating oddities and stitching together outlandish narratives meant to amuse, if not quite explain. The joy is in the process—crafting little worlds, tucking stories into patterns, and leaving behind something worth a second look.
“Familiar places can still surprise you.”
"I’ve spent plenty of time passing through Commercial Drive—usually on my way somewhere else. But slowing down to draw it made me see it differently. The old signs, the contrast of new buildings wedged between the worn ones, the way the street holds its history. I wanted to get the details right without losing my own style—so yes, there’s a fish in there. A small reminder that even the most familiar places can still surprise you."
